In July I was part of Art Santa Fe, that was held in the Convention Center for 3 days. Here are some shots of my exhibit space. It was a great experience, meeting new clients, new artists, and all the fun conversations about the art fair experience. If you missed it, always happy to have visitors to my studio!
Santa Fe Studio Tour
I have been getting ready for the Santa Fe Studio Tour. Today is the start! It runs Oct 9th and 10th, 10-5, and the same Oct. 16th and 17th. There are 58 studios to visit, and over 60+ artists to meet. It feels like Fall for sure today…a little blustery and cool. Seems like studio visits would be the fun thing to do!
On Paper
After finishing two large paintings in mixed media, which took most of two months, I decided I would try some small ones on paper. These are fun and quick in comparison to the large paintings on canvas. This will be a good way also to test some color choices before I start another large one. Here is the first example!
Daily Warm ups
During this time at home…for now over a couple of weeks, I have been trying to do a daily warm up. After several days I found a particular look and media to use. These have been so fun, and I think will be useful to work out some color choices for the abstract landscapes that I have been working on. Or maybe these will become something on their own. Here’s to what new things happen when you are forced to change your routine..space..lifestyle..place…I have found that these can be, as hard as it maybe at the beginning of a change, something new does come out of it. Trying to make the best of this scenario being away from family and friends.
Just some fun..
I try to change it up a little from time to time. While I love the dress paintings, with the contrast of the delicate dress and the thorns away paint, I wondered if the technique would work with another image. I have done a few now and find them a fun addition.
New directions
I am continuing to explore the abstract landscape series. During this past summer I felt I had really begun to push the paintings. Adding more movement, papers, colors has seemed to send it in a new direction. I find myself excited about and looking forward to each new painting.
First showing at "Untitled" Gallery
I was able to show two paintings at the newest gallery in Tucson. It was fun to see them side by side. The gallery is just getting started and is a wonderful space. Hoping they will have great success!
Installation in Denver Club house
Here is the piece in it’s new home. It’s a feature wall in a club house of a new development in the Stapleton area of Denver. Hope to see it in person someday.
Finished commission: 12' x 6' Denver projectI
I am finding time now to update. It has been a very busy year so I think I will work backwards to catch up. Finished and shipped a large scale paper piece for installation in a project in the Stapleton area of Denver. Here are some shots from start to finish, and will update when it actually is installed in late March. This was a new technique for me, along with the scale, made it a great challenge. I do like a challenge. This is in white cotton, and may or may not be painted by the client after install. Can’t wait to see it in it’s new home.
New Show at Gallery Azul
Here are some shots of the show currently showing in Tucson. Gallery Azul is located in the Warehouse Art District in downtown Tucson. The gallery is a small space with large windows making it feel airy open. The show runs until the end of February with the Friday and Saturdays afternoons open to the public. That interaction with visitors to the gallery and studio is always so fun and interesting hearing their impressions, and experiences with art.
